Vaisakhi

Mayfield was delighted to receive a visit from Suki Kaur and her sons, Arjun Singh and Paramvir Singh, both former Mayfield students. They taught the school about the origins of Sikhism, the festival of Vaisakhi and the meaning of the symbolic 5 Ks: Kesh (uncut hair), Kangha (comb), Kara (bracelet), Kirpan (sword) and Kachera (undergarment). They finished off with a traditional Sikh hymn, accompanied by the boys on a tabla (drums) and a harmonium. It was a wonderful visit and the school is grateful.
